His grandparents raised him, but Robinson always felt different than his schoolmates because of his family situation, and its effects showed. His schoolwork suffered. He had very little confidence and self-esteem. Other kids picked on him. He spent a great deal of time in resource rooms and learning centers as a result. But when he was 12 years old, something happened that changed the landscape of his life forever - he took up martial arts. Soon after he noticed improvements in his confidence, self-esteem and schoolwork. After entering high school with failing grades, he graduated with a B average and was given the Outstanding Personal Achievement award, which was created in his honor. Robinson learned the value of respect and the importance of an education. He credits it all to a deep faith in God and the martial arts. The more one talks with Robinson and those surrounding him, the more one comes to the realization all personal accomplishments - including winning the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) world championship in 1998 in Little Rock, Ark. - are not what matters most to Robinson. Instead, he is dedicated to helping people accomplish their lifetime goals and dreams. Mr. Robinson is instructor-certified by the American Taekwondo Association and is a graduate of the American Taekwondo Association University.
