I've been hearing such great things about this place and finally someone in my 'circle' handed me Robinsons TKD flyer that had a great coupon in it (something they offer regularly in a newsletter chock-full-o-good info). Anyway, I kept my expectation lower than most based on my kids' past experiences with other extra-curricular activities. When they came out beaming I thought,
"Hmm. Ok. We'll give this a few more goes!" Well the coupon lasted for a very appropriate 2 week trial (3x / week). Just the right amount of time to see the novelty wear off and the dreaded SPEECH of 'Mommy and Daddy work really hard so you can enjoy...bla bla bla". Well without any speeches the kids are still happy to return. Mind you, they are still only White Belts but the incentives to return are vast. My kids are loving all the opportunities for acquiring an emblem to be sewn on their uniform (lessons mastered=emblem earned).
Let me explain WHAT is so different about Robinson's TKD:
- Lisa at the front desk makes sure everyone (new and regular clients) are attended to graciously. For such a busy front desk she does an AMAZING job.
- The hired staff that trains these 'young belts' is PHENOMENAL! I just couldn't imagine how newcomers could so easily be integrated in an already established class but they are and with such EASE and ATTENTIVENESS to the nervous newbies. They really work with them individually!!
- The incentives to follow instructions of their teachers are tempered with seeing the already accomplished students all around them (many helping the newer ones along)
- I can't say enough about how ENCOURAGING the instructors are (not to be feared, just RESPECTED and ADMIRED). They really do capture the attention of even the youngest (and most wriggly) of students.
Downright impressive.
- The level of respect learned in the classroom translates over to everyday life. I even see it among the PARENTS! I've met such thoughtful and encouraging parents just sitting in the 'watching room'.
- The ENTIRE FAMILY can go and learn together, as classes are offered for young and old. (I always wanted to say I was a blackbelt!)
- Samurai Sword Training...need I say more?
Call them up, leave a message if you have to and try it. Give it a week (or two) and see for yourself!!
